Joe holds a Bachelors degree in Public Administration from Northern Kentucky University and
an Associates degree from the University of Cincinnati. Joe also received a license as an Ohio
"Certified Public Manager" in October of 2001 from the State of Ohio and The Ohio State University.
Prior to taking office as a State Representative, Joe served as the Administrator for the Clermont County
Engineer’s Office where he held that position for 12 years. He also served as a Police Officer for 15
years with three area police departments; City of Deer Park, Clermont County Sheriff's Patrol, and the
City of Montgomery Police Department. Joe has also been employed as a computer systems sales manager.
A past small business owner, Joe is now a full time legislator.
Prior to being elected to the Ohio House of Representatives in November 2004, Joe had been a Miami Township Trustee (Clermont County) for 14 years.
Joe is actively involved in local politics as a member of the Clermont County Republican Party, and also a member of the Republican Central Committee as well as a member of the Ohio Republican Party.
Joe grew up in the Miamiville area of Miami Township
in Clermont County. In 1987, Joe and his wife Patti
purchased and moved into the house he grew up in
where he still resides today. Joe and Patti have
four children; a son who is an Air Force Captain and
graduate of the United States Air Force Academy in
Colorado Springs and a fighter pilot, a daughter who is a
Major in the United States Air Force where she serves as a
pharmacist, a son who recently graduated from Wright State University, and a son who is currently attending the University
of Cincinnati and a cadet in the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corp. Joe and Patti are doting grandparents to
two granddaughters in
Virginia and a grandson and a grandaughter in South Carolina.
Joe has devoted much time working with area youths serving in various capacities with the Boy Scouts of America including as a former Cub Scout Den Leader and former Boy Scout Assistant Scoutmaster as well as a current merit badge counselor. In 2001 and again in 2002, Joe served as the Boy Scout's area chairman for the "Friends of Scouting" fundraising campaign.
An avid outdoorsman, Joe is also a volunteer instructor with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Division teaching several "Hunter Safety" courses in the community each year. Joe is a Life Member of the NRA and a certified NRA pistol instructor and also teaches for the Ohio CCW permit certification.
Joe enjoys hunting, fishing, golf, and especially enjoys playing guitar whenever possible.
